Optimal economy through automation

Also in injection moulding technology ...

In politics, business and science, the term "industry 4.0" is virtually hailed in all media. After the first three major industrial revolutions - steam engine, assembly line and the use of electronics - the figure 4.0 stands for several trends: globalization, mobility, connectivity, security and, of course, automation. The continuing growth in the automation sector is reflected in the continuous linking of production lines, the increase in the degree of automation in production facilities and the development of new technologies.

Automation technology offers many complementary advantages. Not only is productivity improved, the level of quality is also increased. This is because highly automated process chains minimize the number of production errors or even avoid them altogether. Furthermore, a larger quantity of products can be manufactured within a relatively short period of time and the quality criteria can be documented. The automation of production processes therefore means time and cost savings. In addition to numerous other areas of application, automation is also used in the field of injection moulding technology. The injection moulding process is an forming process which is used today in almost all areas. In daily use almost every one of us comes into contact with plastic articles which have been produced by injection moulding.

A company from the Westerwald has decades of experience and profound know-how in the manufacture of complete solutions for special machine and tool construction. Robots or other handling systems are used in automation systems depending on the application. For example, article-specific gripper modules are installed on these handling technologies. These ensure fast, precise and at the same time gentle placement of inserts or removal of the finished moulded articles. The double grippers often used can position inserts precisely and precisely and also remove the finished injection-moulded plastic article from the high-quality injection mould. The gripper systems of VWH GmbH are modularly designed and built. This enables not only a high variety of variants, but also the connection of the handling systems to all standard injection moulding machines with a holistic view of a safety, assembly and testing concept.

The operation of the systems is intuitive and the injection process always remains the core process. In addition, the company also separately installs inspection units for quality assurance, such as camera systems for checking overmoldings.

Due to the constant increase of technical properties and demands on components, more and more functions are combined in one part. More than half of all metallic stampings are now directly or indirectly combined with plastic in the production process. These "hybrid components" require a smooth combination of pre- and post-processes, which allows the Injection moulding automation guaranteed. As a form-fit connection between at least two different materials, hybrid components offer various advantages. These include, for example, weight savings, since stiffeners can be specifically incorporated into the product. Another advantage of hybrid components is the combination of different properties in one article. For example, electrical plug connections, i.e. the connection of an electrical conductor with an insulator, can be produced at reduced cost. This conserves raw materials, energy and resources. There is no need for time-consuming assembly of individual parts. Hybrid components find numerous areas of application: Automotive, electronics, consumer goods, medicine, electromobility, vehicle components and many more. In addition to single-component and multi-component injection moulds, VWH GmbH also produces technically sophisticated metal-plastic compounds.

VWH GmbH defines itself as a general contractor and provides all services of a project. From design, production and electrical assembly to in-house commissioning, the entire value chain takes place under one roof at the location Herschbach, Oberwesterwald. VWH GmbH convinces nationally and internationally with its core competence in assembly, testing and automation technology. The company is thus one of a select group of successful specialists who are regarded in the market as efficient technology leaders.
